Where Art Meets Earth: Our Partnership with the Milwaukee Ballet

At LandWorks, we’ve always believed that a thoughtfully crafted landscape is more than just greenery—it is a living, breathing art installation. It requires vision, precision, and constant care to thrive. It was this shared appreciation for the arts that first sparked our partnership with the Milwaukee Ballet. The moment that solidified our relationship, however, was when we had an opportunity to visit the Baumgartner Center for Dance. There, we saw firsthand how the Ballet’s reach extends far beyond the stage. From their adaptive programming and student matinees to their dedicated efforts to bring ballet classes to neighborhoods across the city, we realized that their mission—strengthening the local community through beauty and discipline—perfectly mirrors our own.
The Party with a Purpose: The Ballet Ball
The annual Ballet Ball is the Milwaukee Ballet’s most vital fundraising event of the year. It’s an evening that celebrates world-class artistry while fueling the education and engagement initiatives that make dance accessible to everyone in our community. This past weekend, we had the privilege of stepping off the job site and into a fairy tale. As the Principal Sponsor for the Ballet’s production of ALICE (in wonderland), our team was tasked with bringing Septime Webre’s whimsical vision to life at the historic Pfister Hotel.
Down the Rabbit Hole
Early Saturday morning, two LandWorks trucks—packed to the gills with living trees and boxes of décor—arrived at the Pfister. Our talented crew of decorators and landscapers set to work with a singular goal: transforming a classically elegant hotel hallway into a whimsical "rabbit hole" entrance to the ballroom.

It was a fascinating process to witness. What began as a seemingly random assortment of trees, twinkly lights, abstract structures, burlap, and artificial grape vines slowly began to harmonize. Like a garden coming into bloom, the individual components organically merged into a beautifully cohesive final product.
A Growing Partnership
Seeing the final transformation was a spectacle, but the real reward is knowing the impact this evening has on our city. We are incredibly proud to support an organization that not only creates world-class art but also invests so deeply in the people of Milwaukee. Whether we’re planting a new garden or helping a rabbit hole come to life, we’re honored to play a part in making our community a more beautiful place to live.
